The landlocked Republic of Malawi is bordered by Tanzania, Mozambique and Zambia. The Mzuzu Coffee Planters Cooperative Union is located in the mountains of Malawi, overlooking Lake Malawi. The Union is made up of 3000 farmers whose association with coffee growing dates back to the 1930’s. Across the Union nearly 25% of members are women, and thanks to the quality of the coffee produced and strong demand from buyers, they have been able to provide and access good living conditions, food security and quality education.
In the last 5 years the Mzuzu Cooperative have built their own washing stations, central mill, hulling and storage facilities as well as a cupping lab.
